Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Develop a shared future state model
   • Establish a representative team
2. Analyse a value stream map of a section of the value stream
3. Determine the current state of practice across the value stream
4. Identify overall organisation strategy, direction and competitive systems and practices philosophy
5. Validate view with process and system owner and representative team
6. Develop and review a collaborative best practice model
   • Develop a future state model of practice
7. Review model in consultation with process and system owners and stakeholders across the value stream
8. Modify model to deliver better results for the customer and reduce muda (waste)
9. Develop written implementation plan in consultation with stakeholders
10. Provide the resources necessary to move to the future state
    • Identify changes required to infrastructure
11. Calculate cost-benefit for required changes
12. Prioritise required changes
13. Obtain required authorisations
14. Facilitate the provision of resources needed to implement plan
15. Review future state model
    • Manage the implementation of improvements
16. Identify measures of progress towards agreed future state
17. Review progress towards future state
18. Agree methods of improving areas which could progress better
19. Agree on methods for evaluating future state
20. Validate measures and methods with relevant managers
